Where a dealership offers export shipping, it arranges and reports the shipment and remains the dealer of record. You track every milestone from your account.
Who actually ships the vehicle
The selling dealership handles export where it offers that service. Kasmota does not operate vessels, act as a freight forwarder, or clear customs. What we do is require the dealership to report each milestone against your transaction, so you are not left calling for updates.
The milestones you will see
Each milestone is recorded with the date it happened and, where the dealership provides one, supporting documentation.
- Sale documentation completed by the dealership.
- Vehicle collected and delivered to the port of loading.
- Loaded and departed, with the vessel or booking reference.
- Arrived at the destination port in Nigeria.
- Customs clearance in progress, then cleared.
- Released for delivery or collection.
What a shipping quote includes
When the dealership quotes shipping on your vehicle, the quote states what it covers. Read it before you accept, because coverage varies between dealerships.
- Typically included: inland transport to the port, ocean freight, and export documentation.
- Typically excluded: Nigerian import duty, port charges, terminal handling, agent fees and inland delivery at destination.
- Where shipping is collected through us, it appears as its own line on your cost breakdown, marked as payable to the dealership.
Documents
The documents needed for a vehicle import into Nigeria are attached to your transaction as the dealership produces them. You can download them from your account at any time.
- Bill of sale from the dealership.
- Certificate of title or equivalent proof of ownership transfer.
- Bill of lading issued for the shipment.
- Export declaration where applicable.
Dates are estimates
Sailing schedules move, ports congest, and clearance queues vary. We show you the dealership's estimate and the actual date once each milestone is reported, and we do not overwrite an estimate to make it look accurate.
All shipping dates are estimates. Customs outcomes, duties and inspection requirements in Nigeria are determined by the authorities, and neither the dealership nor we can guarantee them.
If something goes wrong in transit
Raise a case from your transaction. A shipping dispute is tracked with a priority and a response target, and where settlement has not yet been released it can be frozen while the case is open.
